What is Dance Dance Revolution ?
Dance Dance Revolution, or DDR , is a music video game series produced by Konami. It was first introduced to Japanese video arcades in 1998, after being shown at the Tokyo Game Show earlier that year. Since then, the game has gained significant popularity elsewhere in the world, including large portions of North America and Europe. As of 2005, over 90 official versions have been produced, including those for home video game consoles. The Dance Dance Revolution series is a subset of the larger Bemani series of music video games. Its popularity broke every sales record as the dance craze swept through all of Asia.
Its so popular now in some parts of the country that players come from all over the country to participate in Dance Dance Revolution competitions that are held in arcades. The last major event was held at the Sony Metreon in San Francisco and it was amazing.
The DDR dance pad is harder to find, but several versions of this accessory do exist and you can always find them at RedOctane's DDR Store. There is however, a significant difference in features, longevity, and "feel" between standard and premium pads.anteeing a longer life and more accurate game play.
DDR game play is extremely addictive and the graphics are colorful, fun, and really add to the DDR experience. In addition to arrows that scroll up and down the screen, players are treated to psychedelic colors and polygonal dancers.
How to Master Dance Dance Revolution?
Ever see the guys (and girls) at the arcade playing Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) professionally:
You can tell how hard a song is and know how fast it is if you go to a song, and look down at the bottom of the screen and see feet. The more feet, the harder. You can tell the BPM (beats per minute)if it is hard or not, because you just can.
Select options if you need to. To do this, simply select your song, press the button and hold for about ten seconds. Then, it will take you to a green page with options for you to choose.
Scroll is how you want your arrows to come -up or down. Your options for Scroll are Standard and Reverse. Standard is when the arrows go up(which is standard) Reverse is when the arrows do down.
And last, but not least, is the step difficulty, which is how hard you want your song to be. They have Beginner, Light, Standard,Heavy, and sometimes Challenge .
Play the song! Don't step too soon. If you are on Beginner, there should be a player on the screen to help you. Wait for the arrow to be inside the "blank arrows" at the top. You may fail the very first time you play, but don't get discouraged! You will eventually get better if you stick with it.
